61 billion rubbles of foreign investments in Kaluga automotive cluster
The International automobile ForumAutoEvolution 2010 was held in Kaluga. On the 1st of December the Governor of Kaluga Region Anatoly Artamonov held a speech to the wide audience of the conference. He observed the innovation strategy applied in Kaluga Region, which resulted in a short time in the formation of a new branch of industry in Kaluga, namely the automotive industry. This year its share in the total volume of production in Kaluga Region has reached 20%. According to the experts estimations itll grow up till 32% next year. Today the volume of foreign investments in Kaluga automotive cluster makes 61 billion rubbles. Till the end of the current year about 115 thousand passenger cars and trucks will come off the assembly line at the Kaluga Regions automotive factories. In the longer term if all the car manufacturers move to the full cycle of production, the number of cars in the annual output will rise to 390 thousand.
In the Governors opinion, the steady growth of automotive industry in the region is possible subject to the global localisation of automotive production, investments to the professional training and development of research centers.
