Rani Plast Project
Notification Concerning the Disclosure of Environmental Review Summary
The EBRD has been approached by AB Rani Plast OY (the 'Sponsor' or 'Rani Plast'), a Finnish family-owned film extrusion company specialising in the manufacturing of polyethylene films for flexible packaging for agriculture, consumer goods, electric insulation, pallet wrapping etc., for a loan of EUR 8.0 million for a Project Company be established and operated in the Kaluga Region. The Loan will co-finance the Project Company's investment programme by providing funding for an acquisition of a turnkey constructed plastic film extrusion plant in the region of Kaluga from Lemcon Invest Ltd (the 'Lemcon'), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lemminkainen Group, which is one of the largest and most experienced construction companies in Finland.
In accordance with EBRD’s Environmental Policy, environmental investigations have been undertaken to assess the current environmental status of Rani Plast facilities and operations as well as the environmental impacts of the project. The investigations showed that the project would not cause any significant environmental and social impacts.
